Two possibilities: the real dangers and potential benefits of AI, or perhaps limits to free speech, which seems to be making the news in the past few days. What do you think? Send an email!
Apologies, but I failed to add the August discussion on Communal Blindspots. This is what was sent out about it:
This week, I suggest we take to look at communal blindspots. What are the obviously true things which most of us - or, at least the people with power - are ignoring? And, of course, what might we do about them?
The subject was raised for me in a recent conversation, where we talked briefly about Gaza (there is no international system to prevent countries from committing genocide, or punishing them when they do) and the fact that decade after decade we are getting poorer because wealth is being concentrated in fewer and fewer hands (my parents could buy a house and bring up a family on one salary; we could buy a house and bring up a family on two salaries; most of the current generation can't buy a house on two salaries). There are, I would guess, many other examples.
